The objectives of The Guildhaus are to: Operate as a community-service Makerspace - with an emphasis on serving those under 18 years old - in six core disciplines: woodwork, metalwork, robotics, microelectronics, rapid prototyping (3D printing, laser engraving/cutting, CNC milling), and textiles. Provide a safe, fun, engaging environment for kids and adults alike to learn, share, and build while removing all barriers possible. Offer training in an alternative path to post-secondary education by offering no-cost skilled and technical trade training to those in need with an emphasis on US military veterans and at-risk youth (through profits and fundraising). Provide professional development training so that they are best equipped to achieve gainful, successful employment. Act as a startup and small business incubator for new small business ventures and product development. Work with area youth outreach programs in order to teach young men and women self-worth and give them skills to succeed in life. The Guildhaus’ services will include: Events, classes, and courses in the aforementioned disciplines with theoretical and practical work taught by a cohort of international, master craftspeople. Members will have access to a wide array of professional-grade machinery, tools, equipment, and supplies. On-demand 3D printing, laser engraving/cutting, and CNC milling services as business-to-business and retail services. Wholesale and retail sales of products created by staff and members. Group programs such as Sumo Robot League, First Lego League, and others. Community outreach events in collaboration with entities such as public and private schools, the Boy and Girl Scouts, youth outreach programs, and others. Annual regional events in collaboration with local businesses and community organizations such as a formal Maker Faire. Controlled access rental space for startups and small businesses.
