Named after the great Explorer Christopher Colombus, Genoa Airport is a true "city airport" which has been managed by Aeroporto di Genova S.p.A. since 1985. Located at the centre of the Italin Riviera, on a man-made peninsula built out into the sea about 6 km from the city centre, the airport permits a convenient access and integration with key forms of transportation. The airport, the harbour and motorway and railway links come together to form one of northern Italy's most important intermonal transport nodes. On the northern end of the western Mediterranean Sea, in direct contact with the Alpine Euro region, Genoa is the perfect link between central Europe and the Mediterranean area.
