The Hellenic Foundation for Culture (HFC): Was established in 1992 and is based in Athens. Its main aim is to promote Greek culture and language throughout the world. Organises events in many parts of the world: exhibitions, concerts, theatre performances, screenings, lectures and discussions, in co-operation with other cultural and educational institutions. Participates in European and international anniversaries as well as theatre, cinema and music weeks. Promotes Greek language by offering courses at its branches outside Greece; also by providing material and information to other agencies and by organising seminars. Disseminates Greek books by presenting authors and new titles, by providing support for translations, participating in international book fairs, etc. Spotlights Greek cinema through regular screenings, film festivals and tributes in co-operation with the Greek Film Centre. HFC Networks HFC has created a network of branches outside Greece organising cultural events, disseminating Greek books, promoting Greek cinema, and teaching the Greek language. The HFC branches are based in: Alexandria, Belgrade, Berlin, Bucharest, Odessa, Trieste. HFC is a member of two European cultural networks: the European Union of National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and the Anna Lindh Foundation. It co-operates with Greek Studies university departments, Greek language schools, embassies, cultural centres, museums and libraries the world over.
