Developing the Young Workforce Tay Cities
www.dywtaycities.co.ukDeveloping the Young Workforce (DYW) is a Scottish Government strategy that outlines various actions to ensure young people have the skills and experiences to successfully move from education into employment and reduce youth unemployment rates. The strategy was developed as a result of recommendations made by the Commission for Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce, chaired by Sir Ian Wood. A key part of the DYW strategy is to bring businesses and education closer together. This strong link will help young people become more ‘work ready’, through various activities including providing high quality work inspirational activities, increasing the range of vocational qualifications and apprenticeships available and having business work with schools to help develop work- focussed curriculum. There are several Regional DYW Groups across Scotland, and our team’s remit covers the Tayside region. The groups are industry-led. This means that we respond to the needs, wants and ideas of the local labour market and work with education establishments to help meet these. Our work not only helps young people, but also supports local businesses of all sizes to meet their workforce needs. The DYW Tay Cities team is based in the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce in City Quay. Our contact details are: DYW Lead, Lisa Laidlaw - lisalaidlaw@dywtaycities.co.uk Interim Regional School Coordinator Manager, John Carroll - johncarroll@dywtaycities.co.uk Employer Liaison Officers Emma Harrison - emmaharrison@dywtaycities.co.uk Morgan McLeod - morganmcleod@dywtaycities.co.uk John Robertson - johnrobertson@dywtaycities.co.uk Digital Administrator, Rachel Jackson - racheljackson@dywtaycities.co.uk Business Administrator Graduate Apprentices Lucy Jobson - lucyjobson@dywtaycities.co.uk Zeinab Bakir - zeinabbakir@dywtaycities.co.uk Business Administrator Modern Apprentice - Natalia Grestza E: contact@dywtaycities.co.uk
