In recent years, our society’s ability to solve problems seems to have decreased. This is particularly apparent as we also face increasingly complex issues, in many countries, in important fields—the environment, health, social justice, our use of technology spring to mind, but there are many others. Ordinary citizens, those in charge of making laws and governing (policy makers), and experts (the specialized institutions with technical knowledge on the subject) all need to have their say if a solution that is both workable and fair is to be found. Yet while the Internet and social media mean information is more readily available now than ever before in history, they have also made it more difficult to plan for the long-term. Policymakr allows the actors of world policy—citizens, policy makers and experts—to harness the power of technology to explore, validate and implement effective solutions to complex issues. Policymakr's overriding aim is to use technology to restore serenity and a long-term perspective to the political process. Any adult resident of a country in which Policymakr operates may open an account and either propose new Project for interaction or join the work on an existing one. Transparency and the overwhelming importance of public service and of the general interest will be at the core of the Policymakr project. Its governance structure, rules and economic model are designed from the ground up to provide an online area for political debate that citizens can trust. There will be three categories of profiles on Policymakr: Citizens, Policy Makers and Experts, working together on Projects aimed at resolving a policy issue. These are the three essential actors who can usefully work together to find the best solution to a problem, but also one that is politically viable.
