The Homeownership Center is now in its twenty-seventh year. A thriving community-based 501(c) 3 nonprofit whose mission is to cultivate and foster neighborhood revitalization through homeownership. We strive to be responsive to and inclusive of the needs of our community, which includes an evolving population with diverse demographics. As a community resource, we work to make sure that all people are supported and provided tools to pursue their aspirations to achieve homeownership. HCNW builds quality new single-family and multifamily homes, refurbishes and restores existing homes, and makes homeownership affordable by providing unique financing that ensures monthly payments are tailored to the household’s income instead of the purchase price of the home. This unique financing is offered throughout Pierce County, for homes that we have constructed or refurbished, to modest- income home buyers that have not owned a home during the past three years. In addition to offering free ongoing homebuyer education classes and seminars to the general public, we work closely with community volunteers and businesses that participate in many aspects of our organization, to train, mentor and support learning opportunities and partnerships. 2019 brings new programs and partnerships…..including “Preservation Tacoma”, a Volunteer Initiative, and the “Evergreen Program” to name a few. Original architectural plans, exclusive to HCNW, which redefines what Affordable Homeownership looks like today. New unique single family, duplex and triplex units, offer handicap accessible, loft style and various floorplans that broaden our ability to better serve the community needs.
