UNIQ YOU is a not-for-profit formed by Girl Shaped Flames Founder Tanya Meessmann, non-executive director Sarah Zeljko, interim-CEO of Women's Legal Services Kristen Podagiel, and CEO of OACIS Matt Lee. It is committed to increasing the percentage of girls considering and pursuing pathways into industries currently under-represented by women, while building a more robust understanding of these sectors and roles within the education sector. By imploding stereotypes, challenging conventions and rejecting constructed gender norms, we seek to recalibrate society’s expectations of what girls are capable of and curious about. We do this through the facilitation of 1:1 real-world, personalised video conversations between high school girls and women working in ‘non-traditional’ roles and industries. These conversations empower girls to make confident career choices - regardless of industry, role or skill set - today, tomorrow and beyond.
