Stephen Gan began his career as an editor of the then downtown magazine, Details. In 1999, Gan launched V Magazine, New York's most avant-garde magazine; a fashion and lifestyle magazine focused on a young, sophisticated, international audience followed by V Man in 2003, both of which are published by Fashion Media Group of which he founded and currently serves as president. He has art directed exhibition books for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Louvre as well as photography books for Mario Testino and Hedi Slimane. In 2001, Gan joined Harper's Bazaar as Creative Director. Six months later, the Council of Fashion Designers of America presented him with the Creative Visionary Award. 2012 brought the highly anticipated launch of Carine Roitfeld's CR Fashion Book which he cofounded and sits as the design director.
