BCC Evolution is a mental health and suicide awareness 501c3 nonprofit. We bridge the gap by educating people to support those who are faced with a mental health challenge. We aim to ACE; increase Awareness, cultivate Conversation, and provide Education. Our mission is to empower people to get educated and speak out about mental health and suicide, so that we break down the stigma and start saving lives. Our vision is to stop the stigma and normalize the conversation about mental health and suicide through educational classes and community events to reach one million people by 2030. Why BCC Evolution? BCC stands for "Because Carrie Cared". BCC also reflects on the theory behind Blind Carbon Copy emails, a person’s name is on the "bcc" line and they do not know who else's name is there. It is hidden and that is how we think about Mental Health conditions, they are there, but you may not know they are there. Our goal is to figure out how to get the hidden names listed on the "bcc" line to the "to" line to open the conversation and bring light to each person as an individual to show that they are not alone. You cannot always see a mental health condition or know how to address it until it is too late, and we lose a life to the act of suicide. Did you know?? According to the CDC: 1 in 5 adults experience a mental illness in a given year. 1 in 25 Americans lives with a serious mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depression. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for individuals ages 10-34. 5 in 5 of us have mental health. And almost everyone in the world has experience with someone that has attempted or completed suicide. Or has personally known someone who has lived with or struggled with a mental health challenge. It is time to break the silence and stigma of mental health and bring light to the epidemic of suicide. Together we can Make Mental Health Matter!
