Catàsynth Speciality Chemicals is a Joint Venture between Solvay, a world-leading producer of flavour and fragrance ingredients, and Anthea Aromatics, a leading manufacturer of speciality chemicals in India. Established in 2016 and set up by Anthea Aromatics Private Limited, Catàsynth manufactures a range of products from key starting intermediate, methylenedioxybenzene (MDB). In 2020, Solvay completed an equity investment to take a significant minority shareholding in Catàsynth, reinforcing Solvay's downstream integration into catechol based products. Catàsynth makes use of innovative and sustainable processes developed and patented by Anthea for manufacturing Methylene Dioxybenzene (MDB), synthetic Piperonal (Heliotropin), Helional and Piperonyl Butoxide (PBO).
