TU Berlin Department of Health Care Management
www.mig.tu-berlin.deAs part of the Faculty of Economics and Management, the department focuses on health systems, health services research, economic issues in health care, health policy measures and actors, and health technologies. The department is headed by Prof. Dr. med. Reinhard Busse, MPH. The department is home to the junior professorship for "Health Services Research and Quality Management in the Outpatient Sector" by Prof. Dr. Verena Vogt, donated by the KBV. The department has a strong interdisciplinary and international orientation and its research and teaching touches on economics, engineering and social sciences, human medicine and public health. Currently, about 30 research assistants* with different disciplinary backgrounds are working at the department. It is closely networked with international organizations as well as university and industrial partners in Europe and beyond. For example, the department is one of the centers of the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies (www.euro.who.int/observatory) and since 2005 "Collaborating Centre for Health Systems Research and Management" of the World Health Organization (WHO). As such, it is integrated into the worldwide network of the WHO and supports the international activities of the World Health Organization through its scientific work. The range of courses offered includes courses as part of the bachelor's and master's degree programs in economics and engineering, such as the "Health Technology" course of the master's degree program in industrial engineering. Since 2016, the inter-university MScPH program has also been offering courses for public health students. In addition, the department has also been offering a blended learning course for further education in the field of "Health Technology Assessment" (HTA) since 2009.
