TrybeUP is a peer-to-peer sports and adventure equipment marketplace, based in Sacramento, California. We believe that you should have the freedom to rent any equipment where you need it, when you need it. We also think that if you have equipment it’s smart to rent it out and earn money instead of it collecting dust in your garage. It’s a simple value proposition that was born from my personal health journey. My name is Misha Troshin, and I’ve been in the tech industry since 2002. Even though I grew up surrounded by nature, when I immigrated to America I became focused on succeeding in the tech world, and didn’t take the time to focus on my well-being. By 2018, facing a health crisis and feeling the worst I had ever felt, I finally got the wake up call to make the changes I needed to make. I moved from Ohio to Northern California and began to develop consistency in my workouts for the first time. I fell in love with outdoor cycling, as a sport, as a way to connect with nature, and as a way to join a community of other cyclists. The changes to my life were immeasurable and led to me taking up all sorts of other outdoor activities with my family - paddleboarding, kayaking, snowboarding. I believe so strongly in the power of these changes, that I decided to start a company that would make it possible for anyone to live a more healthy lifestyle. The biggest barrier to people starting a new activity is the cost of equipment, and by giving you the ability to rent it for a much smaller fee, you can try it out before buying your own. It makes sense that if you can rent a house or a car in any city, you should be able to rent a bike, an electric scooter, or a surfboard as well. Our world is now about flexibility and availability, and the same should apply to your ability to explore nature.
