The pretzels that you enjoy today at Peter's Bakery are the “great-grandchildren” of the once steaming pretzels that came out from the heart of a famous bakery of the year 1900. Peter, the man you'll see in the photo on the company's website, at the time a vibrant and full of dreams young man, was awarded the Master of Bakery Book in 1937, while in 1940 being awarded the Patent for Bakery Craftsmanship. Today, on that Patent still lies proudly written - BAKER. In 1939 Peter’s dream takes shape and he orders a couple of German made bakery machineries, so that things will be done “zeiss!”. Shortly after, he opens up his own bakery – a life-long dream. His pretzels’ recipe, a recipe that he has long worked at, turned his products into what became to be known as “the famous PETER’s Pretzels”. Things were going well, the business was thriving from one day to another, the welfare of the family with six children seemed assured, until…everything fell apart. Bluntly put: a life-long dream, a business suffocated by the communists. They seized all of it, they confiscated it all as they did with so many others’. Time passed by and Peter lived to see his 92nd birthday, but always carrying a dull, annoying pain in his chest coupled though with a glimpse of a shy hope that somehow, someday, things would get to where they once were. And here we are, over the years, the great-grandchildren of Peter have reshaped their great grandfather’s dream while taking it further: PETER’s BAKERY. Following the family recipe with a tradition of three-quarters of a century, Peter’s great-grandchildren tempt you today with the same, once upon a time perfect pretzel taste. TRADITION GOES ON!
