Leadership, Strategy, Storytelling Kris Anderson is an experienced nonprofit leadership, communications, and development strategist; a thoughtful philanthropic consultant; a versatile and compelling writer; and a charismatic public speaker. The author, along with Greg Chaillé (former president of the Oregon Community Foundation), of State of Giving: Stories of Oregon Volunteers, Donors, and Nonprofits, Kris has a passion for celebrating and strengthening the work of nonprofits, in-depth knowledge of key nonprofit sectors and challenges, and a statewide network of contacts across the nonprofit, philanthropic, and volunteer communities. A native Oregonian, Kris has traveled the state speaking at public and private events, helping individuals to tell their stories and nonprofits to hone their strategy and networks. She has consulted for, published on, and taught within a wide range of fields and topics. Arts and heritage, social equity and inclusion, education, and the environment are key interests. Educated at the University of Oxford, where she also taught, she has worked locally, regionally, and internationally for nonprofits ranging from the London-based advocacy organization Dignity in Dying to Oregon’s Literary Arts and the Oregon Community Foundation. As a former educator, she learns new fields and skills quickly, enjoys working with diverse groups of people, and relishes helping others to realize their potential. In addition to strategic, communications, and development projects for various organizations, Kris is currently the part-time executive director of the Portland Clinic Foundation and an active volunteer–she is the Secretary of Disjecta Contemporary Art Center’s board, the Secretary of the Oregon Historical Society’s Cabinet, a member of the Multnomah County Cultural Coalition, and sits on several advisory councils.
