Created in 2004, and multi-awarded independent media platform and print magazine, Nawaat is the pioneer of alternative journalism in Tunisia. Our media is distinguished by its audacity, its independence, its innovation and its differential treatment of current affairs. It established itself as a trusted provider of coverage specialized in topical news, with a focus on democracy, transparency, accountability, justice, civil liberties and rights. In the year following the Tunisian revolution, Nawaat.org became an NGO with focused efforts on training activists in Internet technology and citizen journalism assisting NGOs and independent activists carrying with similar missions, monitoring elections, and continuing to publish rich and diversified content on human rights, economic, environmental and social issues. Nawaat aggregates also citizen generated news and opinions, carries out original news reporting, investigative and data journalism and opens its platform for whistelblowers and exposers of misconducts.
