What? POLO Stories is a production platform that creates and disseminates documentaries about innovative women across the globe. It is our aim to create a documentary in every country on Earth, producing a rich archive of female ingenuity and entrepreneurship in the 21st century. Our first wave of films will prioritise narratives in low and middle-income countries. Who? The producers of these documentaries come from a pool of well-established and accredited film schools and academies in low and middle-income countries. The productions will be overseen by female filmmakers and based on stories with a female protagonist. How? There are two streams of films within POLO Stories: Education — shedding light on a specific innovation or phenomenon related to a woman’s life and work. Call for Support — raising awareness for new ideas to help drive them into fruition. Our production style is shaped by: i. strong emphasis on powerful and inspiring narratives carefully curated with the support of a TED specialist; ii. collaboration with the subjects of our films to ensure that stories authentically reflect lived experiences; iii. focus on creative and expressive cinematography.
