We are a local charity, founded in 2016, that provides support to vulnerable families through weekly drop-in sessions in various Maidenhead locations. Families can feel safe, supported, valued and accepted at these venues; support and sign posting to other services is given, depending on needs. In March 2018, we opened "The Freedom Cafe": a weekly drop in for people in recovery from addiction to alcohol and /or drugs. We offer a non judgemental place for recovering addicts to attend for friendship, support and time to discuss their issues whatever they may be. The drop in is delivered by staff and volunteers, with the aid of the local "Foodshare" that provides a hot meal each week for those that attend. The recovering addicts are offered support and signposting to other relevant services be they medical, housing, benefits, foodbank, employment etc. Our volunteers help the attendees explore their issues through the use of art and they are also supported with maths and literacy, if needed. Computers are available for accessing benefits, getting information on housing, creating CVs and looking for work.
