The study of genocide, a gross violation of human rights, can help us understand the conditions under which genocide and other acts of mass violence are likely to take place; it can help identify the warning signs of impending violence; and it can suggest ways in which genocide may be prevented The International Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (A Division of the Zoryan Institute) is a non-profit engaged in research, publication and education in the field. This is achieved through comparative and interdisciplinary analysis of such cases as the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide, Cambodia and Rwanda, among others. We strive to show through a comparative approach that genocide is a shared human experience and, as such, must be the concern of all individuals and institutions.
