Training in symbolic logic is the best way to overcome the ambiguities and implications found in all human languages. Most of the time ambiguity and implication play a useful role and can make communication easier by relying on common cultural understanding. Imagine how cumbersome and time consuming it would be to spell out every implication and explain every ambiguity in a conversation with friends or coworkers. Not fun! But sometimes ambiguities and unspoken implications lead to costly and dangerous mistakes. The way we communicate closely reflects the way we think, and when accuracy is necessary, symbolic logic is our most powerful tool. Logic is not a replacement for natural language, but a tool to make it more accurate when accuracy is called for. Think about business requirements for a complex system, or legal contracts, or specifications for a mission-critical software program, or communication between people with completely different cultural backgrounds.
