Design Land Collaborative Ltd (DLC) was established in Shanghai in 2004. We are devoted towards design solutions that generate a positive sense of place, promote healthy communities, quality of life, and everyday experiences at the heart of a livable and evolving city. We care and respect for nature and space deeply, we study their complexities, contradictions, constraints and try to promote their continued sustainable evolution through design. Our work is grounded in craft and detail and we are inspired by the practice of landscape architecture as a natural, balanced and poetic expression of life. We believe that landscapes need to be more than aesthetically pleasing and durable. They should be designed to be catalysts for human interaction, recreation and community. Our work is original, sustainable, uncluttered, and enjoyable. Our portfolio includes a diverse range of designs from large public parks and university campuses to commercial, civic, residential projects, hotels and resorts as well as the iconic Tiandi developments (天地 tiān dì, meaning ‘heaven and earth’). Our Tiandi projects demonstrate what we believe modern metropolitan China can be; pedestrian streets full of quirks and life defined by the aesthetics of our time and place. Projects here at DLC are divided into 7 categories: Parks, Xintiandi, Mix-use Commercial, Urban, Hospitality, Campus and Residential.
