It works in the areas of Attitudes, Accessibility and Affordability for Persons with Disabilities. Nipman Foundation advocates for Health, Dignity and Happiness of PwDs and other disadvantaged sections of the society. Nipman Foundation has been at the forefront of many advocacy struggles for Persons with Disabilities. It has successfully lobbied with Zomato to add wheelchair access filters to their restaurant listings and with CISF to ease the security check procedure for PwDs at airports. The Foundation has conducted over 100 accessibility audits and organised sensitisation workshops for government officials and corporates. It has also collaborated with the Ministry of Social Justice as a ‘Partner’ to take the Accessible India Campaign forward. The Foundation’s flagship event, The Equal Opportunity Awards were instituted in 2014 to recognize organizations and individuals making significant contributions in the workspace and lifestyles of PwDs. The Awards comprise 7 categories – Entrepreneur with a Disability, Professional with a Disability, Organizations hiring Persons with Disabilities, Innovation: Technology, Innovation: Non-Technology, Integrated and Inclusive Schools and those promoting Physical Accessibility. Nipman Foundation also started an initiative called Wheels For Life in October, 2016. It is a crowdsourcing platform connecting those who need wheelchairs to donors who can financially contribute for them. With a presence in twenty-five states, ‘Wheels For Life’ has impacted more than 1,670 individuals in just 3 years by gifting mobility to Persons with Disabilities.
