The Southern Cross Joint Venture

Southern Cross Industries (Pty) Ltd first set foot on African soil as the Southern Cross Windmill and Engine Co. Back then, its regulatory head office and factory, Southern Cross Organisation, was based in Toowoomba, Queensland Australia. The initial idea was to distribute Australian manufactured products in South Africa. In the 1950’s Southern Cross radically transformed, by establishing a manufacturing facility in Bloemfontein. Today, Southern Cross Industries (South Africa) and the various originating Australian companies, have no relationships other than commercial ties. On 1 December 2011, a leading Bloemfontein entrepreneur, Kobus Knoetze, acquired Southern Cross Industries. Kobus and his team boast a diverse product portfolio, including Southern Cross Agriculture, Southern Cross Solar, Southern Cross Garden Care, and Southern Cross Foundry. Backed by years of engineering expertise, Southern Cross Industries is your preferred partner towards a solid, green future. Windmills were one of the first products manufactured by Southern Cross. Skills and knowledge accumulated over nearly 110 years, inspired improvements in design and manufacturing. This continuous quest for excellence positioned Southern Cross as the undisputed windmill leader globally. The demand continues for traditional water pumping products due to their economy of use and ecological friendliness. This is the reason why we are successfully expanding further into African countries. Our product is built in Africa for African conditions.
