Back then, its regulatory head office and factory, Southern Cross Organisation, was based in Toowoomba, Queensland Australia. The initial idea was to distribute Australian manufactured products in South Africa. In the 1950’s Southern Cross radically transformed, by establishing a manufacturing facility in Bloemfontein. Today, Southern Cross Industries (South Africa) and the various originating Australian companies, have no relationships other than commercial ties. On 1 December 2011, a leading Bloemfontein entrepreneur, Kobus Knoetze, acquired Southern Cross Industries. Kobus and his team boast a diverse product portfolio, including Southern Cross Agriculture, Southern Cross Solar, Southern Cross Garden Care, and Southern Cross Foundry.
