TriaSun – sustainable water purification
www.triasun.noTriaSun is a greentech start-up, developing a system for zero-emission water desalination / purification, which utilizes 100 % on-site renewable energy: › Design and construction in Scandinavia - Europe. › Possibilities for installation in Australia, on the Caribbean & Pacific islands and in the coastal regions of the Mediterranean, Africa, California and Chile. In a sunny arid climate, only solar energy is used. In cloudy areas, the system uses solar energy, combined with wind power or geothermal energy. A TriaSun unit has a very low maintenance requirement, as it functions without membranes and with few mechanical parts. The system has a long service life, of up to 50 years (if maintained every two to four years). When used for desalination, the TriaSun system provides the environmental benefit of being entirely brine-free: all the produced natural salt is harvested and dried. The system operates without any brine discharge. TriaSunʼs operations will therefore be fully respective of the marine environment – which is especially important in coastal locations. A TriaSun installation is energy-neutral and is operated on a stand-alone basis; it generates all the clean energy that it needs by itself and it is remotely steered through telemetry. Daily operation is largely automated, which renders this system suitable for usage in - amongst others - remote desert locations near the seashore. › For applications in seawater desalination, water inlets can be located along the coastline. › For applications in groundwater desalination, water inlets can be positioned underground, as part of salinity remediation schemes. The new internet site of TriaSun will be put online in June 2020. Project status, update per August 2022: › Phase A, prototype design & simulation modelling, has been completed. › Phase B, prototype engineering & construction, starts in 2022. › In Phase C, from ± 2024 onwards, TriaSun will begin with industrial manufacturing in standard series.
