Potboy Groceries, a homegrown online groceries platform, targets to triple its revenue this year from RM50 million recorded in 2018, driven by the expansion of its business operations throughout Peninsular Malaysia. PB Grocery Group Sdn Bhd chief executive officer and founder, Eddie Chew Chun Liang, said due to the growing demand from online consumers, the company, which currently operates in the Klang Valley, will expand to other major cities including Johor Bahru, Melaka, Ipoh and Penang. PB Grocery is the owner and operator of Potboy Groceries. “Besides expanding geographically this year, we will also expand in terms of increasing the number of products on our platform including quality grocery items from Thailand, Japan and Taiwan,” said Chew. He told Bernama this at the launch of the Online to Offline (O2O) Shopping Experience sales promotion in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration here, today. The platform, which has 18,000 active users and 40,000 registered users, currently offers 250 brands comprising over 10,000 items, with plans to increase it to 30,000 items within two years. Meanwhile, Chew said the three-day O2O sales promotion, held at the Starling Mall, enabled buyers to purchase the products on display by scanning the products’ QR code, pay for it online and get their purchases delivered to their houses for free. “Suppliers no longer need to worry about the logistics and the quantity of inventories to bring to the location,” he said. The event, which ends this Sunday, is organised in partnership with Boost, the eWallet app, with the hope that it would boost cashless transactions among Malaysians. Over 80 brands participated in the event, including Nestle, Coca-Cola, Munchy’s, Yeo’s and MamyPoko.
