Habitat for Humanity GB Homes
www.habitatforhumanitygbhomes.org.ukHabitat for Humanity Homes is a construction charity, whose aim is to “build community whilst building homes”. We are experienced in managing skilled workers and volunteers on site to produce decent affordable housing, along with collaborative community activity for wider social benefits. The current housing crisis in the UK places Habitat for Humanity Homes (HFHH) in a strong position as a charity. Over the last 15 years the organisation has experimented with various approaches to providing affordable homes in and around London and we are now looking to expand the work across the UK. We have growing expertise in bringing empty properties, and underused sites into use for affordable accommodation. What HFH Homes Do We have three main streams of work: 1. New Build Projects - 38 affordable homes completed to date; 2. Empty Homes Scheme - lease and repair of empty properties using our charitable funds, with other funding where available. 31 homes completed with potentially more in the pipeline in London, Banbury and Tunbridge Wells; 3. Community Projects – these are often, but not exclusively, refurbishment projects for other housing or homelessness charities. These are funded using corporate sponsorship and volunteering. We work closely with landowners to agree attractive offers using their assets for the benefit of the community. Our mission is a very practical and compassionate one – to stand alongside local communities in need, and to work with them to provide innovative and lasting solutions for decent, affordable homes. We also have an office based in Slough, who deal with international fundraising and volunteering. For more information please visit their website at; www.habitatforhumanity.org.uk
