www.stthomashistoricaltrust.orgThe mission of the St. Thomas Historical Trust is to identify, protect, and preserve the history sites, and cultureof St. Thomas (United States Virgin Islands). The St Thomas Historical Trust is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. Since the Trust was organized, it has undertaken and supported many projects in fulfillment of this mission, notably in recent years: • conducting numerous walking tours for visitors and local school groups of historic venues in the town of Charlotte Amalie, • offering lectures on various relevant topics to the community such as restoration of West Indian furniture and oral histories of neighborhoods as well as lectures and tours related to Hassel Island • partnering with the Virgin Islands National Park Service (VINPS)for the restoration and interpretation of Hassel Island through a formal Memorandum of Understanding since 2007 • cooperating with VINPS in providing tours for more than 500 students to Hassel Island • producing an educational DVD on the history of Hassel Island which has been screened on a free basis to an audience of more than 250 persons at Prior-Jolleck Auditorium • completing the stabilization and restoration of Prince Frederiks Battery • completing the stabilization and restoration of the Garrison House • organizing the restoration of St. Thomas’ unique Step Streets • entering into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the VI Government to preserve, restore and make available to the public the three sites on Hassel Island owned by it, Cowell’s Battery, Prince Frederiks Battery, the Garrison House and Ft. Christian
