METATISSUE is a spin-off company which primarily focus in the design and development of soft materials derived from human sources for 3D cell culture. The main purpose of the company is to increase the accuracy of in vitro assays by providing cells with the biochemical and mechanical cues that make part of their natural milieu. For such, METATISSUE uses human tissues and fluids donated by hospitals and clinical institutions as starting materials for the formulation of innovative and cost-effective cell culture substrates. The ultimate goal of these materials is to address the needs of life science researchers, biomedical, biotech and pharma companies and diagnostic centres regarding the poor correlation between the pre-clinical and clinical divides.
