Montalto is a small medieval castle (parts date from the 11th century or earlier, parts from the 13th, the 16th and the 19th centuries) in an extraordinarily beautiful corner of the Chianti territory in Tuscany. The few dwellings within its walls have been restored as holiday homes, attempting to conserve the old atmosphere without creating a Disneyland-type castle with artificial luxury. The 10 houses and apartments can be rented, separately or together, by the week or month, and in low season by the day (minimum 3 nights). The extensive grounds have a pool and tennis court as well as gardens and woods and a music room and library are available to all. Music, painting and cooking courses are organized.
