Ocean Media Institute (OMI) serves to enrich and expand the public's understanding of ocean science and conservation through the collaborative creation, exhibition, and distribution of innovative visual media as well as artistic approaches to ocean education. As a global media collective, we serve to create, educate, and advocate for the protection of the ocean. Acting as a creative hub for individuals and organizations worldwide, our goal is to work in collaboration with artists and filmmakers, organizations and academic institutions, aquaria and museums to produce, exhibit, and openly distribute media that promotes public understanding of ocean science and conservation. In addition, the Institute fosters the democratization of ocean science by offering media workshops and immersive educational experiences to the public. We actively connect artists and advocates, scientists and students, media-makers and policy-makers in an effort to engage them in collective artistic approaches that address ocean issues.
