Construction Disputes Resolution by Negotiation, Mediation, Conciliation, Adjudication and Arbitration. Dr Derek Ross is an Irish chartered civil engineer, chartered arbitrator, accredited mediator and an experienced construction adjudicator and conciliator. He graduated with an honours degree in civil engineering from Trinity College Dublin in 1969. He holds a PhD from that same university (1976), an MSc in Construction Law and Arbitration from King’s College London (2000), and a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (2010). Between 1972 and 1992 Derek worked as a contractor or a consultant on a variety of civil engineering projects, predominantly relating to infrastructure and harbour works. Since gaining Fellowship of the CIArb in 1992, he has worked as a full-time construction dispute resolver based in the UK. He currently accepts both UK and international appointments as an arbitrator, adjudicator, mediator, conciliator, dispute board member and expert witness. He also accepts appointments as a Party Representative to resolve disputes in the construction industry. He has practiced on his own account since 1997.
