Speak About It

www.wespeakaboutit.org

Speak About It is a consent education and sexual assault prevention non-profit based in Portland, Maine. We engage with high and college students across the country through theater and dialogue, and educate and empower them to get consent, talk about healthy sexuality and relationships, and learn critical thinking skills that make connections between identity, power, and interpersonal violence Since 2010, Speak About It has reached over 450,000 students across the world with our dynamic, engaging, and inclusive programming. We believe that storytelling and narrative have the power to foster empathy, build bridges, and make positive change. Our programs encourage students to talk openly about sex and relationships, and include the voices of students of numerous identities and experiences. We promote healthy relationships using an affirmative, enthusiastic consent model, by focusing on pleasure and sex-positivity, and encouraging communication and dialogue between partners. Speak About It offers our flagship 60 minute show to high schools and colleges. We also offer dialogue based workshops on a number of topics, including our popular parent program, bystander intervention training, and trainings on gender, sexuality and consent. Speak About It is a founding member of Heart of Hospitality, a local coalition that trains restaurant and nightlife personnel in bystander intervention and safer spaces tactics in order to foster a culture of consent in the hospitality industry. Speak About It has a small staff of dedicated experts in the field of relationships and sexual health. We also employ over 20 educators/actors each year who perform and lead our shows and dialogues. We also produce a selection of online materials and content through our social media pages and blog. Check us out! #wespeakaboutit
