Public and community engagement is not new for the Institute. We have been involved in this cause in some shape or form for three decades. The Institute is engaged in a number of efforts to raise physical activity levels here in Colorado and across the country. The work of promoting physically active lifestyles is of national importance. We collaborate every day with partners around the country to implement effective strategies that promote physical activity. The collaborations below are examples of institutional links created and maintained by the Institute. University of Denver, Institute of Gerontology, Gerontological Fitness Certificate Program, 1988-2004 Tai Chi Project University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, 1994-2000 The Oxford Study, Tai Chi and Fitness Walks in the Botanic Gardens. Funded and supported by AARP and the Denver Botanic Gardens. Also being the subject of the Oxford Round Table debates at the Oxford Union Hall, for Harris Manchester College, Oxford University U.K., 2006. Colorado Governor’s Council for Physical Fitness Affiliate National Association of Health and Fitness( NAHF) American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Exercise is Medicine Network Partner National Physical Activity Plan National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity (NCPPA) President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition (PCFSN)
