Biotech Tricopharming Research (Tricopharming for short) was founded in October 2018. It uses tricopharming techniques to optimize different plants that produce diverse medicinal and aromatic compounds in their trichomes or plant hairs, starting with Artemisia annua. Tricopharming is responsible for the cultivation and commercialization of Artennua, its optimized Artemisia annua plant. Artennua has twice the artemisinin concentration, triple the biofoliar mass and five times the production capacity of Artemisia annua, results which have been obtained using 100% natural and sustainable methods. The properties of Artennua are suitable for the nutraceutical, natural cosmetics and animal health sectors. In parallel, the company is applying its tricopharming technique, and developing other new ones, to other medicinal and aromatic plants, such as lavender, thyme, mint, basil and salvia, amongst others. Tricopharming also provides personalized R&D services and field trials to other companies and research centres that are looking to improve commercial crops using sustainable biotechnological techniques.
