OyataTe International began with a core group of Taika Seiyu Oyata's students in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area who trained directly with him all the way up until his death. This group was the original organizers of the local Shihan Dai (Oyata's local Black Belt Training Group). After his death this group formed to continue to teach his art as it was taught to them, and with the mission to further his art without politics.
