WSRT is a dynamic group dedicated to improving opportunities in sport and regular physical activity for women and girls. Womensport & Recreation Tasmania believes it is important to address imbalances and enable and encourage women to become involved in regular physical activities. Womensport & Recreation Tasmania Incorporated is a group of concerned individuals and organisations with a broad range of interests in women's sport and recreation issues. Members include people interested in sports administration, coaching, officiating, participation, education, recreation and leisure. Our key objectives are: - To support Tasmanian women and girls to be change agents in sport and recreation. - To champion sport and recreation as a source of work, development, community leadership, health and wellbeing. - To advocate for women's sport and recreation and be a key influencer to government and other stakeholders. - To operate a progressive, sustainable, accountable and transparent organisation. We also deliver the Get Active Program (GAP): The Get Active Program (GAP) is a statewide initiative and seeks to engage people of all ages who are not currently physically active, and who may have experienced barriers to physical activity such as lack of confidence and motivation, negative body image, concerns about personal safety and who may lack knowledge about the benefits of healthy eating. The majority of our programs are gender-inclusive though some groups such as women's shelter programs or new dad's groups may be male or female-specific.
