Industree Foundation
www.industree.org.inIndustree Foundation has built an ecosystem that effectively tackles rural poverty by creating ownership-based models in the on and off-farm sectors, working with women producers and micro-entrepreneurs. Industree works with regenerative value chains, which have the potential to redefine supply chains of the future while creating positive social and environmental footprints. Industree Foundation has created and promoted three sustainable value chains across banana, bamboo, non-timber forest produce (NTFP) across the states of Tamil Nadu, Odisha and Karnataka in India, besides apparel and embroidery value chain. Their work ensures that women in communities have access to work close to their homes, becoming part of mainstream value chains with customers such as IKEA, H&M Home, FabIndia, in climate-positive value chains. This gives them greater control over their economic security and significantly improves social gains such as a stronger voice in their families and communities, access to social security, better health care, improved nutritional and educational outcomes for their children, and resilience to crises. Their ownership of net positive, creative production value chains gives them added confidence as societal agents of change. Industree’s approach has tripled incomes via the creation of value addition. Industree Foundation has so far trained 30,000 producers in the creative manufacturing sector. It has also incubated two producer enterprises which comprise 2,000 artisans, and service customers like Ikea and Mother Earth. Industree Foundation has initiated Mission Creative Million to celebrate creative producers' skills and cultural legacy. By 2026, it aims to create significant social and economic impact for one million artisans by setting up 30,000 inclusive enterprises on a single digital platform harnessed by the power of technology and the smartphone revolution, focusing on skill development and gender equality.
