Founded in 1949 by local personalities, its status has been officially registered with the Ministry of Lands as a Trust. It has become the most important Alliance Française on the African continent with more than 3 000 different students every year. Its staff comprises of 65 people; including 34 highly trained and skilled teachers of French. A center of excellence for French language courses for all sections of the society, Alliance Française de Nairobi has continued to be an active cultural centre, with a multimedia library and a monthly program of activities showcasing local and international Arts, facilitating creativity and promoting intercultural enrichment.
