Viking Motorsports is a student group at Portland State University designing and building race cars to compete in Formula SAE. Formula SAE is a worldwide collegiate competition created by SAE International, an organization of engineers dedicated to transportation design. The competition involves everything an automotive business is expected to excel at. A technical inspection ensures that the car complies with whatever rules are set. A design presentation sees to the innovation and justification of the design of the engineers behind the car. A business presentation shows that the car can be marketed to the masses. And finally, dynamic events will test the cars' performance to their limits. VMS is primarily funded through sponsorships and donations.
