UKIYO is a social impact driven edu-tech organisation that provides an ecosystem for the youth to access information relating to their education, job and economic opportunities in South Africa, in Africa and globally. South Africa has 17,8 million youth, with 9 million classified as not in education, employment or training (NEET) youth from marginalised communities. Youth NEET includes educated or skilled youth who cannot progress into employment. In 2021, Stats SA cited youth unemployment was at 66%, in which 9 % were graduates. UKIYO’s mission is to connect youth, specific focus on youth NEET, to education and employment opportunities, using technology to contribute to an accessible, inclusive, educated, and sustainable society. Founded by Nozuko Mzamo, a visionary social entrepreneur, she believes that access to opportunities will effect positive social and economic change. In this technology era, more than 80% of youth have access to a smartphones and/or internet connectivity in their household. Youth should not be struggling to connect to educational information that relates to funding, career guidance, digital learning, and employment opportunities. We thrive at developing and implementing innovative sustainable solutions that positively influence and develop youth to be active economical global community members in society.
