PARDUS operating system project was initiated to support the open source movement and a total of 5 main and 2 enterprise versions of PARDUS were released. The Project was first started by TUBİTAK BİLGEM in 2003 and then moved to TUBİTAK ULAKBİM in 2013 in order to improve the cooperation with the goverment institutions. PARDUS 2013, a cost-effective, Debian based, secure alternative to commercial operating systems was released in 2013 which offers enterprise support and provides software tools for enterprise level applications.
