Good Chance Theatre
www.goodchance.org.ukThrough theatre and art, Good Chance creates new kinds of communities to empower artists from across the world and connect people, stories and cultures. WHAT WE DO In a world increasingly divided, we believe it is time for theatre and art to rediscover its ancient power: to connect, unite and reclaim our individual and collective narratives. There are three core strands to our work: the Good Chance Theatres, Good Chance Productions and the Good Chance Ensemble. Theatres: We build temporary Theatres of Hope in the form of large geodesic domes, in areas where expression is stifled and where immigrant and local communities are struggling to integrate. In collaboration with local and international artists, we deliver a multi-genre programme of workshops in our theatres and share this work with the wider public at a weekly Hope Show. We first built the dome in the unofficial refugee and migrant camp in Calais in 2015, and it has since migrated to London and Paris. The dome will be open again in Paris in June and July 2018. Productions: We write, create and produce groundbreaking work with artists from across the world that provides a professional platform and context for previously untold stories of global and national relevance. We explore the intricacies, commonalities and complications of these stories, exposing audiences nationally and internationally to something new and provocative. Good Chance's Artistic Directors, Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson, wrote The Jungle, produced by the National Theatre and Young Vic with Good Chance, which received multiple five-star reviews and widespread media attention. Ensemble: The Good Chance Ensemble is a collective of artists across the world whom we support to develop professionally and artistically through participation in our theatres and productions and additional collaborative projects.
