The Guilford Gazette is a weekly, 16-page community newspaper serving a distinct area of eastern Howard County, Maryland, specifically Savage, Kings Contrivance (Columbia), North Laurel, Jessup, and Guilford. While there is a website representing this newspaper, the heart and soul are discovered through the print version. The format of the newspaper is intentionally limited. The dimensions are 8.5” x 11” and the pages will never exceed sixteen. The intention is to publish something that invites both the traditional newspaper reader and those who typically do not read newspapers. The Guilford Gazette is in play to fill the news gap that exists in our circulation area. Unfortunately, most of the news the public receives is national in scope, and then state or regional, but hardly ever does the typical news consumer get reports about their neighborhoods. While news content publishes weekly, our features rotate. With having a 16-page newspaper, it is not possible to run every feature section every week. For instance, one week, you may see the Living Section, while on other weeks, you may encounter the Religion Section. To gain maximum traction to deliver critical news and information, we promote our limited complimentary distribution to places where people are likely to read while waiting. Barber shops, doctors’ offices, and coffee shops are great places to read the Guilford Gazette. For subscribers, we offer delivery of the newspaper in print or electronically, and via our website.
