The Surrey German Language School provides internationally recognized German language education for students from kindergarten to graduation. Studying an additional language equips students for life in a world filled with continuous change and cultural diversity. Students develop a knowledge and appreciation for the German culture, as well as other cultures they encounter in life. The Surrey German Language School is a place where students and their families also join our community and experience German heritage traditions. We believe everyone has the capacity to learn to speak German and we give our students the tools to develop their full potential. OUR HIGHLIGHTS - For children 4 years and up - Adult Classes - Saturdays 9 am to noon, September till May - Open to students with or without knowledge of German - Small classes for individual attention - Qualified and experienced teachers - Comprehensive program leading to German 11 and German 12 high school credits - German Language Diploma 1 + 2 - Close cooperation with the German Central Agency for Schools Abroad CURRICULUM Our classes are structured according to age and language background. Depending on their knowledge and whether German is the language spoken at home, students learn German either as a second or as a foreign language and are divided into two streams throughout the entire program. These streams are called the German or English Branch and classes are identified by their title: G1 to G8 and E1 to E8. Branch switches are possible after oral and written evaluation of the student by the respective teacher and the principal. GERMAN LANGUAGE DIPLOMA Students can earn the DSD I and/or DSD II “Deutsches Sprachdiplom” as proof of their proficiency in German. More precisely, the DSD I Diploma serves as proof of the necessary language skills required in order to enrol in college-level courses in Germany. Students must be between 13 and 17 years old when they write the exam.
