The Hessian Academy for Pupils (Hessische Schülerakademie) is an extra-curricular educational programme for gifted pupils. It is organized by the Goethe-University Frankfurt, the Hessian authority for teacher training (Hessische Lehrkräfteakademie) and the Akademie Burg Fürsteneck under the patronage of the Hessian minister for education (Kultusminister). It offers summer academies for the upper school level (Oberstufenakademie, since 2004) and the junior high school level (Mittelstufenakademie, since 2011), hosted by Burg Fürsteneck in Eiterfeld. The programmes of the "hsaka" combine scientific and cultural education with social responsibility.
