Alcoa announced on November 20th 2014 that the acquisition of Firth Rixson was complete. The Company closed the transaction, which was announced on June 26, 2014, after receiving all of the required global regulatory approvals and arranging financing for the deal. Firth Rixson strengthens Alcoa’s robust aerospace portfolio and positions the Company to capture greater profitable growth from its expanding value-add business. The transaction doubles Alcoa’s average revenue content on high-growth engine programs. The Firth Rixson businesses are well known for being at the heart of the best-in-class aero engine technology around the world - known as the largest aero engine seamless ring supplier globally and as leaders in conventionally and isothermally forged critical rotating engine discs. The company's unique integrated extrusion and closed die forging operation also supplies the engine market, as well as to the landing gear systems sector. Aviation supply covers 73% of the Firth Rixson business, however other high technology markets such as, off-highway, mining, power generation and oil and gas, provides significant business for our seamless rings, extrusion and closed die forgings, as well as our specialty metal products. The company's internationally located operations across the UK, US, Europe and China, facilitate worldwide supply to a customer base of over 40 countries. This reiterates the company’s stature, in addition to the centuries of experience from the early 1800’s and through the significant size of the company with over 2,400 employees worldwide.
