Mike Wye Sustainable Building & Decorating
www.mikewye.co.ukThe business started in 1994 slaking quicklime and manufacturing lime putty products. In 2008 Mike and his wife Gill Tesh bought the three acre site from which it operates today. The business expanded rapidly due to the growing awareness of the importance of using lime rather than cement on older buildings. We have built a state of the art Design Centre which has been constructed using many of the products and materials we recommend to our customers. Products include; GEOCELL Foam Glass Insulating Gravel, Straw Bales, Cork Board Insulation, Pavatex Wood Fibre Insulation, Natural Hydraulic Lime, Sheeps Wool Insulation, Wood Wool Boards as well as a combination of breathable Silicate Masonry Paint, Clay Paint and Stand Oil Paint. From our core business of traditional lime products we’ve diversified into supplying a wide range of natural building and decorating products and specialised plasters such as Moroccan style Tadelakt, Yoshima Clay Plasters and textured Lime Wall Render. We undertake conservation and ecological building work and thus been able to draw from our hands-on experience to offer a range of solutions to building and decorating problems. We’re always keen to look at new sustainable materials and often work with like-minded organisations to bring new products to market and reduce our reliance on hazardous building materials. Located in the heart of the Devon countryside, we’ve attracted thousands of visitors over the years, particularly those attending our wide range of practical training courses where we aim to pass on our accumulated knowledge and experience in an enjoyable and informative way. We pride ourselves on our reputation for unrivaled customer support, friendly and knowledgeable technical advice and very competitive prices. We understand the stresses and complexity involved in building and restoration but we are confident that with our support, we'll make that process a little easier.
