The Knights of York are a modern-day band of brothers who for 17 years have pursued one noble mission - to improve the lives of children in need. The motto, “Every Knight for Their Tomorrow,” is the vow they take to succeed in their goal. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Knights of York evolved from professional friendships, and they gallantly work to fund lesser known causes. To date, they have donated over one-half of a million dollars to support medical research, educate autistic children, and provide resources for worthy community programs. The Knights of York started in 1996, under the tutelage of Thomas Petersen as President, during a friendly dinner conversation in New York City. A group of friends who enjoyed each others’company, and a commonality of their love for children. The group is comprised of people who are proud of their parents and the sacrifices they made raising each one, and to be blessed with sincere friends and good health. The love for children and a camaraderie shared among friends angled the group into a social commitment. The group was comprised of little league coaches, scout leaders, etc., which was found to be another commonality that enhanced their pursuit to help children. The organization was narrowly begun among these friends, who were leaders in the construction, technology, and real estate businesses. Today, the organization welcomes all professional people with a goal to “Help Children In Need”. In 1996 the Knights of York began by sponsoring a Summer Camp for children with heart diseases. The Knights of York recently contributed funds to Montefiore Hospital to provide a lounge, in a new pediatric wing, for children to prepare for major operations, as well as convalesce from surgery. The Knights are a Non-profit organization with a sincere commitment to fight for the cause of all Children in Need with a battle cry of. “EVERY KNIGHT FOR THEIR TOMORROW”
