The Victorian Branch of the Australian Local Government Women's Association was established in 1963 and incorporated in 1990. The Association welcomes membership from all interested in supporting and encouraging women's participation in Local Government. The Association seeks to assist in furthering women's participation, knowledge and understanding of the function of Local Government. The State Executive coordinates meetings throughout the State. Networking opportunities and mentoring programs are provided. There are sub-branches of the Association in the Central areas, North East, North West and South West of Victoria. In 2014/15 Victoria commemorated the 100th anniversary of women being allowed to stand as Councillors, the legislation being amended in November 1914. A number of activities took place, including the launch of a book and a centenary photograph. More details are on the Victorian Branch website.
