Adamas Nexus Registered Charity
www.adamasnexus.comAdamas Nexus is a support group for Women who have been the recipients of violence, abuse or intimidation (also know as Domestic Violence and Abuse DVA). There are many prevention and ‘in crisis’ support services, but there is little ongoing, lifelong support. Adamas Nexus (www.adamasnexus.com) is a monthly self-help support group for women who have survived domestic violence and abuse and are looking for ongoing support through the rest of their lives. This is a non-facilitated group (similar to 12 Step programs). There is no advice, counselling or guidance provided during the meetings. The program provides connections and support needed to help women regain their inner power and worthiness to go forward in life and be or do whatever they choose. What survivors want is to be heard, believed and supported. This group is complementary to any support services (such as counselling, psychologists, mental health plans) that may already be in place for abuse survivors. Potential attendees are first screened to ensure that they are ready to attend the meetings, otherwise they are referred onto the crisis support services and can look to attend Adamas Nexus when they are past the crisis period. The group is running twice a month in Canberra, with a plan to expand Australia-wide. If you are interested in attending, please go to the 'Meetings' tab on our website and complete the Questionnaire. Everyone is welcome.
