CEDaCI, AN interreg NWE project, will facilitate the implementation of a Circular Economy (CE) for Critical Raw Material in North West Europe and reduce the environmental impact arising from the growth in redundant equipment, by simultaneously increasing materials recovery, reducing use of virgin materials and developing a secure and economically viable CRM supply chain. To achieve this, all life cycle stages must be considered concurrently with the impacts that each has on all others. Although there is evidence of changes in product creation (design & manufacture), use (DC management & operation), life extension (refurbishment) and treatment at end-of life (recycling), the sector is fragmented and sub-sectoral collaboration very limited; consequently, progress towards CE is negligible.
